Questions people call about
FAQ
Service, parts, units and shops. Each answer links to the page with the detail.
Service
What should I have ready when I call?
The unit's model and serial number, the alarm code if the display shows one, and where the unit is.
Can a technician come to the unit?
Yes. Every shop runs mobile service trucks, during shop hours and after. Call the nearest shop and tell them where the unit is.
What happens after hours?
Service is 24/7. After hours, call your shop's number: it reaches the on-call team, and mobile service trucks keep running.
What does the alarm code on my display mean?
Look it up by number on the alarm codes page: it shows what each code means and what to do. If the code is marked Check as specified or Take immediate action, call your shop.
Can we set up maintenance for the whole fleet?
Yes. Your shop can set up Thermo King's Guaranteed Maintenance, a fixed-cost maintenance agreement covering both planned and unscheduled maintenance, as well as breakdown repairs.
Parts
Do I need the part number?
No, but the unit model and serial number help. Send them with the part, or what it does, on a parts request.
Can I order online?
Yes. Thermo King runs an online parts store at parts.thermoking.com. Ordering there takes a login; call your shop to set one up.
Does every shop sell parts?
Yes. All seven shops have parts departments, with genuine Thermo King parts and other OEM parts.
Units
Which shops sell new units?
All seven shops quote and sell new Thermo King units. Call the one nearest you.
What's the difference between the Precedent S and C models?
S models carry CARB Evergreen certification for all 50 states. C models have engines under 25 HP and, from model year 2023, aren't for operation in California.
Self-powered or vehicle-powered truck unit?
Self-powered units, the T-90 Series and the UT-1290, carry their own diesel engine. Vehicle-powered V-Series units drive the compressor from the truck's engine, with SmartPower electric standby as an option. The e1000 is all-electric.
Diesel or electric APU?
The 3rd Generation TriPac is for fleets that demand the most in a diesel APU. The TriPac Envidia is for fleets prioritizing zero-emission performance and quiet operation, and needs a tractor alternator of at least 270 amps.
Where are the spec sheets and manuals?
On each unit's page, and all together on the spec sheets and manuals page. Each one opens on thermoking.com.
