Coldtainers are portable, temperature-controlled containers with their own 12V refrigeration unit, so a car, van or box truck can carry hot, refrigerated or frozen loads without a refrigerated build. Coldtainer USA makes front-loading, top-loading and hot food models, and TKSE sells them.

No van conversion.

Coldtainers are standalone units. There's no need for expensive van liners or conversions. From units that fit in a hatchback car for urban environments, to large cargo and logistics-sized units, each Coldtainer is easy to load, unload, and transport.

  • Combine several units in the same vehicle, to deliver hot and refrigerated food in the same ride
  • Strap them to the vehicle's anchor points; fixing kits are available

Hot, refrigerated or frozen.

NDN models refrigerate down to 32°F, FDN models carry fresh and frozen, and XFDN models deep-freeze. NDH and FDH models heat as well as cool, holding the set temperature whatever it's doing outside, and the hot food line holds +149°F to +185°F for restaurants and caterers.

Power from the vehicle, or the wall.

Coldtainers run on the vehicle's 12V power, through compressors built for vehicles, and AC/DC power supplies for 100–240V mains are available as accessories. AuO models add a built-in battery and charger; the F0720 AuO holds temperature for 8 to 10 hours on a single charge.

  • A protection system stops the compressor if the vehicle battery's voltage drops too low, and restarts it when the voltage recovers
  • The larger freezer models need a vehicle battery of at least 110Ah

Built to last, easy to clean.

Each Coldtainer is a single polyethylene body, rotationally molded and insulated with polyurethane foam, with no internal joints or edges. It's made with food and medical safe material, and its refrigeration unit is built to withstand the vibrations of vehicle use.

Data for your records.

Coldtainers record temperatures, and Bluetooth lets you download the data to meet recordkeeping requirements. Coldtainer's EVlink mobile app connects the unit's digital thermostat to a phone or tablet, to check and change its settings remotely.

Questions

About Coldtainer. Anything else, call your shop.

What is a Coldtainer?

A portable, temperature-controlled container with its own 12V refrigeration unit, for carrying perishable products at the right temperature. It rides in the vehicle you already have, so there's no refrigerated van build.

What do the model names mean?

F is front opening and T is top loading, and the four digits are the gross internal volume in liters. NDN models refrigerate down to 32°F, FDN models carry fresh and frozen, XFDN models deep-freeze, and NDH and FDH models heat as well as cool. AuO models have a built-in battery and charger.

Can it run without the vehicle?

Yes. AuO models have a built-in battery and charger for completely autonomous use; charge the battery from the mains before use. The F0720 AuO holds temperature for 8 to 10 hours on a charge. Any Coldtainer can also run on mains power through an AC/DC power supply.

Will it drain my vehicle's battery?

Coldtainers stop the compressor if the voltage drops too low and restart it when it recovers. The fans and thermostat keep drawing a little power, so the larger freezer models need a battery of at least 110Ah, and a second service battery may be recommended.

Can I use a Coldtainer freezer inside a refrigerated van?

Yes. It's the easiest and cheapest way to start carrying two temperatures, and the freezer holds frozen temperatures without affecting the van's main cold store.

Can it carry precooked hot food?

Use the hot food line, the H140 and H330 AuO, which hold +149°F to +185°F. The NDH and FDH models aren't for precooked food, which needs more than +65°C (149°F); they're designed mainly for medicines and biological products.
