Safety Solutions for Home-Delivered Foods

Many people now rely on food delivery, whether for groceries, catering or subscription meal kits. Delivery services meeting that demand must follow strict safety practices so perishable food stays fresh and arrives safely. This guide from Thermo King of the Southeast explains how to prevent spoilage and protect the safety and quality of home-delivered food.

Stay out of the Danger Zone

Every food service worker, including delivery drivers, should understand the basics of food safety. That includes keeping perishable foods out of the “Danger Zone”: according to FoodSafety.gov, “Bacteria grow most rapidly in the range of temperatures between 40°F and 140°F.” That growth contributes to the spread of foodborne illnesses, including E. coli and salmonella. In delivery, the main objective is to keep food at an appropriate temperature and prevent spoilage. Whether drivers are carrying frozen, refrigerated or hot catering food, they must always keep it out of the “Danger Zone.”
