What is an APU?

APU stands for auxiliary power unit. An APU is a power generator for a commercial truck’s cab: it can run the heater, air conditioner, TV and other in-cab items. That’s especially useful for drivers on long trips who have to stop and rest to comply with their CDL requirements.

Why are electric APUs beneficial?

Many electric APUs are powered by a battery, so a driver can use the in-cab features without idling the truck. They’re also made to meet current emission standards.
